Training to Run the Real Parenting Course
The aim of the Real Parenting course is to provide an online platform to enable churches to provide free access to children’s mental health and parenting training. The course is designed for parents of babies, toddlers and children of primary school age.
The training will equip each church to have a designated ‘Spurgeons Family Support Ambassador’ to support parents and children in their local community.

Once approved by Spurgeons, as a Family Support Ambassador you will have access to free training to help you:
- build your own parenting knowledge
- develop group facilitation skills
- understand parenting needs
Ambassador Handbook
The Real Parenting Course consists of four sessions lasting an hour and a half each.

Animated Videos for Parents
Recent research by Microsoft has shown that attention spans are getting shorter and we have experienced this in our workshops.
We have therefore broken up each week into short subsections of animations which teach parenting principles in a way that is easy to digest and approachable. The animations are then followed with a combination of discussions and role play.
Downloadable Parenting Workbook
We have found that over a four week course stressed and busy parents can often lose or forget workbooks.
So we have provided a downloadable workbook in PDF format which the Real Parenting Ambassador can print off and insert into cheap binders so that extras are available every week.

Online support for Ambassadors
Through our private online forum Real Parenting Ambassadors will be able to get ongoing support and advice in working hours from experience Spurgeons Family Support Workers.
Free Downloadable Marketing assets
It can be a challenge promoting your course within your local community so we have put together downloadable posters and flyers.
All you need to do is put the details of your course in the space available and then you can (with permission!) promote it in places where parents are likely to see them – we suggest local schools, GP surgery waiting rooms and the like.
